Beautiful Gardens
Rose Garden
This beautiful garden is located in Sector 16. This largest
Rose Garden in Asia is spread over an area of 27acres.and
there are more than 17000 plants representing some 1600
varieties of roses. Along with the roses, prominence was also
provided to the trees of medicinal value and some unique
species of trees to enhance the beauty of the garden. This
garden was created in 1967, under the expert guidance of Dr
M.S. Randhawa, Chandigarh's first Chief Commissioner, and is
named after India's President, Zakir Hussain. Some of the
varieties are considered very rare ones. Best time to visit
this garden is during Feb-March. During this period it is in
full bloom.
Rock Garden
This wonderland is situated near Sukhna Lake.The Rock Garden
was a project which was secretly initiated by Nek Chand around
1957. It was discovered by the authorities in 1975, by which
time it had grown into a 12-acre (49,000 m2) complex of
interlinked courtyards, each filled with hundreds of
pottery-covered concrete sculptures of dancers, musicians, and
animals. The authorities took over, and the garden was
inaugurated as a public space in 1976. It is presently run by
the Rock Garden Society. The amazing part of Rock Garden is
that it is still made out of recycled materials. It consists
of man-made interlinked waterfalls and many other sculptures
that have been made of scrap & other kinds of wastes (bottles,
glasses, bangles, tiles, ceramic pots, sinks, electrical
waste, etc) which are placed in walled paths
Shanti kunj
This is located in Sector 16. It is situated right between the
Rose Garden and cricket stadium in sector 16. This is a
completely a natural delight and lovers Hub It is Noise –free
area with natural undulation.
The park into five areas. The five parts of the garden depict
different kinds of trees such as medicinal Plants. Vertical
shaped trees . flowering trees.
Bougainvillea Garden
This heart stealing place is located in Sector 3. It was
opened in 1976.The garden is mainly devoted to hundreds of
varieties of bougainvilleaIt spreads over an area of 20 acres.
The natural choe running through the valley starts from here
.It was opened in 1976.
Garden of Fragrance
It is situated in Sector36.As the name suggests the garden is
the treat for all our senses. It is located near to Hibiscus
Garden; it is popular for different varieties of aromatic and
fragrant plants. The specialty folds the flowers like in
Jasmine,Demask Ropse,Mehndi, Champa , Haar Shingar. Nice
soothing ambience makes it the relaxing hub.
