The session of the Haryana Assembly is on Friday. Still, even after a week, the Congress high command has not been able to elect the leader of the Haryana Congress Legislative Party. However, regarding the number of MLAs, former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s camp is dominant, but due to the defeat in the assembly elections, the Congress high command is angry and in the mood for change. Last time, Hooda himself was the leader of the legislature party. This time too, the names of Ashok Arora are floating along with Hooda and Geeta Bhukkal. Whichever leader of the Congress will be elected as the leader of the legislative party, will be the leader of the opposition in the House, because, after the BJP, the Congress has the highest number of seats.
A meeting of the Haryana Congress was held on October 18 at the Congress headquarters in Chandigarh to elect the leader of the legislative party. Ashok Gehlot, Ajay Maken, Pratap Singh BJP and TS Singhdev had come as central observers. The observers had sought opinions from each MLA regarding the election of the legislature party leader. Later, due to no leader being named, a one-line resolution was passed in the legislature party meeting and the decision was left to the high command. But a week has passed since the meeting and till now Congress has not been able to take any decision regarding this.
Most of the MLAs are in favor of Hooda
If we talk in terms of the number of MLAs, then it is certain that Hooda will become the leader of the legislative party. Out of total 37 MLAs, 33 MLAs are supporters of Hooda. 33 MLAs had also named Hooda before the observers. If the decision is taken based on numbers then Hooda or his supporter will be elected leader. If Kumari Selja group has its way then a new face may get a chance. Chandramohan Bishnoi’s name is being put forward on behalf of Selja. The strategy of the Hooda faction is that if the high command does not agree on Hooda’s name, then Geeta Bhukkal’s name can be put forward.
